First Assignment 2013-2014

Hello everyone!

For your first easy assignment, comment on this post with the following:

Your name.
Your status in acquiring the textbooks.
Your experience (or lack of) with the visual arts.
What you hope to learn from this class.

Do this by Monday 6/17 to avoid getting an email from me checking up on you.

Your first real assignment will be posted on that Monday as well, so check back or follow this blog.

Thanks!

Sincerely,

I want to be that old lady at museums who spits out facts when you're looking at a piece of art, and to know why specific styles are used and how they came to be.

    Ordered the books online
No recent experience with art, but I used to make sculptures and sketch as a hobby in middle school.
I wish to learn the formal way to look at and analyze art as well as the techniques that artists use to create art, since I have no training in this regard. I am also interested in history, so I want to learn how it has affected art. In addition, I just want to gain more exposure to the artists and art movements that are out there.

I hope to learn about how art was a reflection of certain cultures and society. I also want to learn about different techniques artist used and how they evolved as time progresses. I also hope that this will broaden me as an artist and give me a new perspective of how I perceive art.

I have not taken an art class since middle school.
I would like to be immersed in art again. I do not like that Charter does not have any art requirements. Additionally, I would like to learn about the artists themselves, as well as the different movements and styles.
